Open Doors: Discovering the Best of Cyprus Wines for Free
Where and when? Argyrides, Vlassides, Zambartas, Kyperounda and Tsiakkas wineries. November 30 – December 1. Opening hours 11 am – 4.30pm.
With Cyprus boasting a winemaking legacy dating back a whopping 6000 years, nothing compares to a scenic drive through the island’s glorious winemaking district, stopping off at some of the finest boutique wineries along the way. This weekend five of the best boutique wineries of the island will be opening their doors to the general public for free wine tasting, inviting oenophiles to indulge and delight their senses in the magical world of Cyprus wine.
The wineries partaking in the special ‘Open Doors’ event include Argyrides, Vlassides, Zambartas, Kyperounda and Tsiakkas, and they will be offering guided tours of both their respective wineries and vineyards, providing you with a glimpse into the winemaking process, and giving you a taste of their quality wines.
With an emphasis on the flavour and composition of the wines produced, each winery will have a station of 6 bottles with wine aromas waiting to be discovered. If you detect 12 aromas correctly (out of 30), you can enter the draw to win one vintage bottle from each winery. The best nose will win a free WSET level one course.
Various wineries will also have food available – from kleftiko in pitta bread to delicious pizzas – and all sorts of other fun activities to accompany the tasting experience!
